Mitchell and I first met at the great Purdy-McGuire Inc. consulting engineering firm in Summer of 2019, where we both landed our first jobs out of college; he as a Mechanical designer working there prior to me starting as an Electrical designer. Although we were yet to be, the infamous March of 2020 quickly rolled around. We were lucky enough to have found ourselves in a quickly established Covid friend group, many of whom are standing by our side on our big day.
Like many others, our Covid time quickly evolved to outdoor pool days with competitive game nights – cards, Yahtzee, Uno, Mario Kart (Beer-io Kart), Monopoly, ladder golf, bowling – you name it, and we played it. We promptly realized that games would become one of the pillars in our relationship, with our dates and friend group hangouts still looking like this today. Bold statement, but we enjoyed our Covid time together, it gave us the opportunity to think of Covid friendly dates that would allow us to get to know each other and build a strong foundation to our now relationship.
Funny enough, I still remember one of Mitchell’s great date ideas during this time. He had asked me to come help him with his “golf game”, explaining we could spend time together by hosting an outdoor date in a large field by his apartment. The activity would include a chipping contest against each other in this big open field. As an eager 21-year-old pursuing a former college athlete, I quickly hustled over to find him waiting by his truck with a few golf clubs, beers, and football in hand. How Mitchell of him! I got out to say ‘hello’ and asked what direction the field was. To which he responded, “Oh, it’s right there!” – pointing at the 2x2 plot of grass across the street for the neighborhood dogs. I remember smirking and shaking my head as we set up a very easy chipping contest that I too was able to compete with him in. We somehow made that plot of grass, with Mitchell fond activities, entertain us as if it were a large open field for the remainder of the day. I quickly realized, it did not matter what we were doing, or where we were, it was the company of him that made me happy.
Over the past 4 years, we have spent our time traveling, exploring Dallas, working hard, and enjoying every bit that this season of life has to offer! Enjoy the timeline photos below as we depict our incredible past 4 years.
